This month we’ve seen the release of WordPress 4.4 “Clifford” so it’s been a big month for the evolution for WordPress, and of course the resulting wave of Theme, Plugin and Framework updates that follow. As we all know by now, the first of each month is our official update day where we update all our client websites software and do some general housekeeping to keep those websites running fast and secure. However, this month, we pushed that back to the 9th to coincide with the latest release of WordPress.

Great news! The TWS Monthly Tweak this month for all Total WP Support clients is a Google Analytics Check Up. We are going to make sure that all our client websites have Google Analytics set up and working properly. Any websites that don’t have a Google Analytics account we will be creating one for you and then syncing it with your website. For websites that already have Google Analytics account we will check that it is set up properly and that analytics are being registered correctly.
It’s comforting to know that WordPress core’s security is taken seriously and that good work is being done on an ongoing basis to maintain and enhance security in all areas. We build our websites on top of WordPress core just like a house is built on top of a foundation. Just like a house, if the foundation is weak it doesn’t matter how much we try to strengthen the walls, ceilings and floors, the house will always be weak. Knowing that WordPress core is solid gives us confidence as we continue building and maintaining websites that utilize it.
This morning WordPress issued a critical security release to fix a vulnerability that could’ve compromised the security of millions of websites. The good news it that this update has been completed for your website as part of your TWS Maintenance Plan. Cross-site scripting, or XSS, is a vulnerability in the code of Web applications that opens up the target (i.e. website) to attacks, and it’s one of the most common conduits used by hackers.
We are very excited to announce our official launch date for our new dedicated WordPress support company Total WP Support! Although we’ve been maintaining WordPress websites through our own web design agencies since 2011, we have not done so under the Total WP Support banner until now! The popularity of these maintenance plans necessitated that we create a stand alone maintenance company to handle this growing area of our business.
