Website Accessibility now required for all websites in Ontario, Canada

wordpress accessibility

Major emergency update for all Ontario based websites — no matter the size, organizations of all sizes are required to submit documentation demonstrating that they are accessible every 3 years as per the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act2005 (“AODA”). That 3-year deadline was Dec 31st, 2023.

According to the AODA, all websites doing business within Ontario that have twenty or more employees are required to file an Accessibility Compliance Reporting Form every three years. Employers with less than twenty employees still have website accessibility obligations, however filing a website accessibility report isn’t a requirement.
