On the third Thursday of May in each year it is a day to acknowledge the importance of digital accessibility and inclusion for the over one billion people worldwide who live with disabilities and to assess our own websites to gauge their level of accessibility as well as compliance with our own regional accessibility related laws.
Major emergency update for all Ontario based websites — no matter the size, organizations of all sizes are required to submit documentation demonstrating that they are accessible every 3 years as per the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (“AODA”). That 3-year deadline was Dec 31st, 2023.
